Overcoming Loss

Our goal is to discover the freedom to grieve fully and completely for all persons and things that we have lost as we will learn how to get over disappointments we face. We will come to understand and to experience loss as a natural part of our life cycle. As we move ahead, unafraid to look back, we learn to gently smile at what we perceived as a loss, but now realize was an opportunity for personal growth and increased compassion for ourselves and others. Clinical research and data supporting the therapeutic value of overcoming loss help the participant reach this goal.

Overcoming Loss: A Continuum, A Choice, An Obstacle Course
The word loss is widely used to convey sentiments such as: failure, defeat, deficit, beating, casualty, deprivation, and bereavement. The word overcome means to defeat and conquer, prevail over, surmount, overpower, affect deeply, rise above. The concept and sentiment of "Overcoming Loss " suggests that we take difficult, oftentimes negative situations and rise above them and allow our spirit to triumph.

Overcoming Loss: A Path to Health
By choosing Overcoming Loss, we are choosing to look loss squarely in the eye and then, ultimately, to assimilate it into our lives and move on. On this path, we accept that life is an ongoing process of creations and losses, births and deaths; and that without loss, there can be no new growth. Without loss, we would be stagnant and stuck in the same place in a life that is as unchanging as the one in which we do not overcome that which we perceive to be a loss.
